About the Engineering and Technology Excellence Awards

Nominations are now open!

These awards are for Transpower engineering and technology specialists and our wider Transpower whānau – our engineering consultant panel members, our service providers, and other external consultants, contractors, and sub-contractors we work closely with. The Engineering and Technology Excellence Awards will be biennial and the highest accolades in Aotearoa’s electricity transmission sector. We look forward to our people and our wider whānau getting involved.

Purpose of the awards

The Engineering and Technology Excellence Awards are our chance to celebrate our engineering and technology specialists who demonstrate excellence and deliver outstanding solutions that empower the energy future.

Engineering and technology work sits at the very core of what we do at Transpower. As the owner and operator of New Zealand’s national electricity transmission system we rely on engineering solutions and use of technology to solve tricky problems and deliver our services.

We are proud to have people working with us who engage in problem solving and find solutions that improve the ways we work, consider the wider impacts of their work, understand sometimes less is more, and raise our standards. We want to shine a light on our people and celebrate their work.

Awards ceremony

There will be an awards ceremony at the Public Trust Hall in Wellington on the evening of Wednesday, 2 November 2022. It will be a black-tie event open to all finalists, where we’ll share stories of pride and excellence and come together to strengthen connections, celebrate our craft, and congratulate the award winners.

Nominees not selected as finalists will also have an opportunity to purchase tickets. There will be music, a well-known public figure as Master of Ceremony, a chance to mingle, delicious kai and high praise for exceptional achievements. We want it to be a night for our engineering and technology specialists to remember. Finalists will be announced by 30 September 2022, to allow ample time to secure tickets and prepare for the experience.

Tickets cost $120 per person or $1,200 for a table of 10. We hope organisations with award finalists will support nominees by purchasing tickets to the awards ceremony on their behalf.

More details regarding the awards ceremony will be available before the nomination period closes. Please email EngTechAwards@transpower.co.nz with any questions before then. Sign up to our awards newsletter to receive updates on our plans for the night.
