Transpower has lodged with the Kapiti Coast District Council, the environmental applications needed to progress its Paraparaumu 220 kV Supply Project.
The applications, contained within a Notice of Requirement, seek approvals for the work needed to:
- extend the existing Paraparaumu substation to construct a new 220 kV switchyard
- build two new short sections of transmission line to the nearby 220 kV lines (which are only about 800 metres away)
- remove all 24 km of existing 110 kV lines between Paraparaumu and Pauatahanui.
We hope to obtain environmental approvals well before the end of this year to allow civil works to begin in early 2014 and have the substation in service in early 2015.
The Notice of Requirement documentation is available off our website, and will be the subject of a formal consultation process by the Kapiti Coast District Council.
