New playground for Paraparaumu School

Paraparaumu School recently completed their new senior playground thanks to the help of a $20,000 grant from the Transpower CommunityCare Fund.

Parent Teacher Association Chairperson Diana Marsh said that being a smaller school makes it challenging to raise funds for projects as we have the same needs as larger schools and a smaller resource base.Photo of Paraparaumu School

The senior playground is a good example of this.

The $45,000 kit-out has taken four years of fundraising and includes a climbing wall, agility climber, walkway and pommel.

Mrs Marsh said it was the students who identified the need for the playground. “We had a playground for the little kids but really nothing fitness-wise for our older children.”

“It will be well used by the students and will help to promote health and fitness. It will also benefit families in the area, as they are able to access the playground after school and on the weekends,” she said.
