Stringing activities on new transmission line starts this month

30 October 2013

We are starting conductor (wire) stringing on the Wairakei to Whakamaru Project, the last significant phase of overhead line work.

This work includes delivery of insulators and the hanging of conductors between the transmission towers. Traffic management is also required as we work over local roads.

On some occasions we may be using low flying helicopters along the line.

Stringing work will be taking place from late September through to April 2014 along the transmission line (dates are weather dependent and may change at short notice).

Our hours of work are typically 7am to 7pm daily (Monday to Sunday).

We are committed to minimising any disruption to the community and we thank you for your patience while we are completing our construction activities.
