Sixty-six nominations have been received for Transpower’s ‘Safety, Thanks and Recognition’ (STAR) Awards 2021.

Worker and public safety is a priority and the STAR Awards are a way Transpower champions safety across the industry.

Nominations for best practice in health, safety and wellbeing work on the National Grid have been received and are now being assessed by a panel of independent judges.

The finalists in each of the STAR Awards’ six categories will be announced in late January, ahead of a gala dinner and awards ceremony on 15 April. The categories recognise and celebrate safety excellence for teams and individuals, as well as innovations that promote safety for workers and the public alike.

Transpower’s Head of Health and Safety Craig Baxter says a standout theme in the STAR Awards 2021 nominations is resilience in the face of adversity, celebrating the comprehensive Covid-19 response throughout the electricity transmission industry.

“This has enabled the sector’s essential workers to carry out their work safely, even during lockdown.

“It is fantastic to see such a high number of nominations for the STAR Awards 2021, illustrating our shared focus on safety.”
