Transpower advises that areas from Maungataupere north are currently without power due to a large scrub fire underneath its transmission lines that feed the area. Around 30,000 homes are affected in Maungataupere, Kaikohe, Whangarei and Kaitaia.
The 110 kV network was removed from service due to the need to ensure the safety of those fighting the substantial scrub fire.
We are working closely with the fire service around when it will be safe to return the lines to service. We currently do not have a restoration time. Our Facebook page will be regularly updated to keep residents informed.
We are currently looking at alternative ways to supply power to the region through the rest of the transmission network.
