Transpower New Zealand’s Head of Procurement and Supply Rebecca Wilson last night won the prestigious title of Young Energy Professional of the Year at the Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards.
The Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards are the major energy industry awards of the year and recognise excellence and outstanding achievements across the energy sector.
Chief Executive, Alison Andrew says Rebecca’s win is well-deserved and hard-won. "Rebecca has changed public perception of Transpower since joining us as head of communications at age 25. This was a turbulent time for the organisation, and very different from our current environment. Since then, she has also delivered a multi-million dollar head office relocation and now leads our commercial procurement and supply group."
"Rebecca’s commitment to the organisation has been outstanding and we are pleased to see her recognised with this award. Women have a really important role to play in Transpower’s leadership, and we are proud to have been able to provide an environment for leaders like Rebecca to develop and grow professionally."
Receiving the award last night was particularly pleasing for Rebecca, as she says, "it’s not often that communications or programme management professionals are recognised - very often we are in the background supporting the visible work, and not in the front-line. This award recognises all the hard work that leaders who aren’t always in the spotlight put in to their roles, and the real difference you can make."
"Transpower has provided incredible opportunities for me to develop in a range of different disciplines during my decade in the organisation. I’m very thankful for the support they have provided and their commitment to growing their people," she said.
