Transpower has published a summary of the submissions received for its recent consultations on Renewable Energy Zones (the Renewable Energy Zones National Consultation, and the Renewable Energy Zones Northland Pilot Concept).
Raewyn Moss, Transpower General Manager External Affairs thanked those who provided the 129 responses to the two consultations that ran between late February and early April this year.
“We appreciate the input from a wide range of individuals, energy sector participants, businesses, iwi, local and central government, advocacy groups, and industry bodies.
“Respondents were broadly supportive of developing Renewable Energy Zones in New Zealand. Submissions raised a range of themes and areas for consideration that we will need to work through further.
“The consultation process has highlighted that if Renewable Energy Zones are to go ahead in New Zealand, there are quite a number of complexities we need to explore with other agencies. We will now take the time to do this and complete further work to evaluate the points raised.” Ms Moss said.
We anticipate releasing a decision on whether and how to proceed with Renewable Energy Zones in New Zealand during the third quarter of this year.
