Transpower has been using drone technology to help us collect data and capture the condition of conductors, towers and poles, substation gantries and substation facilities (building and grounds).
Drone inspections deliver high quality detail which provides greater clarity on how we should prioritise our asset maintenance and optimise how we invest in the National Grid. This leads to greater cost savings, as well as reducing health and safety risks and our environmental impact.
We'll be carrying out drone inspections on our assets around New Zealand at different times through 2025. You can find out more about these planned inspections below.
Auckland (10 February - 7 March)
During this period we'll be inspecting a section our 110 kV Henderson - Maungatapere A line (highlighted in blue below). Our drone operators will only be carrying out this work on weekdays between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
