Inter-Control Centre Communications Protocol (ICCP)

Real time data exchange is critical to the operation of interconnected utility systems. In the New Zealand power system, real time data exchange has been enabled by Transpower using a variety of systems that have become increasingly difficult to support and maintain.

To address this, Transpower has implemented an industry standard Inter-Control Centre Communication Protocol (ICCP) service which is to be used for all data exchanges with customers.

ICCP will allow us to provide a significantly improved and efficient service through an enhanced ability to manage and maintain large volumes of real or near real time data exchange across our network. ICCP may also provide a platform for new data exchange opportunities with our customers that have previously been difficult using our current systems.

All new and existing customer telemetry-based data connections are to be implemented on, or migrated to, the new ICCP service.

Although these templates can help form the basis of our discussions, each customer connection is unique and the final contract may vary from the original template.
