Transpower today launches a five-week public consultation period for its third Regulatory Control Period proposal, from 2020 – 2025 (RCP3).
As a regulated monopoly, Transpower has its revenue fixed by the Commerce Commission every five years. Chief Executive Alison Andrew says the proposal will set out how Transpower maintains the national grid in the near term.
“Transpower’s formal proposal for RCP3 will be finalised after public consultation, which allows us an opportunity to incorporate feedback and input on our proposal from industry, consumers, and other interested parties,” explained Transpower Chief Executive Alison Andrew.
“Transpower’s regulated revenue and spending levels impact our ability to operate and maintain the National Grid, and plan future programmes of work.”
“It’s important we engage widely with our stakeholders and get their perspectives on the value we deliver. We welcome feedback in letters, email, face-to-face meetings, as well as through our Facebook page.”
To support its public consultation, Transpower has produced a consultation document, and will host a public focus group session on Wednesday 8 August at its offices in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. This session will be recorded and shared online for people who are unable to attend.
Public consultation on Transpower’s proposal opens today and will run for five weeks closing on Friday 31 August.

Background information:
Transpower’s RCP3 proposal will be made to the Commerce Commission in December 2018 and a final decision will be made by the Commerce Commission in September 2019.
