Transpower today confirmed an earlier start date for its new Chief Executive.
James Kilty was announced in September as Transpower’s new Chief Executive and will now begin with the national grid owner and system operator on 3 February 2025.
James is currently Chief Executive of electricity and gas distribution company Powerco, a role he has held since 2021, following an extensive career at Contact Energy in a variety of roles including Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Generation and Development Officer.
Transpower Board Chair Dr Keith Turner said “We are pleased to confirm James’ earlier start date of 3 February. His sector insights and leadership experience are well suited to Transpower’s critical role in ensuring New Zealanders have a secure and reliable electricity transmission network that is fit for the future. He also has a close understanding of Transpower’s customers, having worked for several. He has a passion for energy and the electricity sector. We look forward to working with him.”
John Clarke will remain Acting Chief Executive of Transpower until James begins next year.
