Our electricity system needs to remain secure and resilient as Aotearoa transitions to a zero carbon future. We know there will be new challenges to meet as well as fresh opportunities to support the transition.

We've been engaged by the Electricity Authority to help develop a shared understanding among New Zealand power system stakeholders about these opportunities and challenges.

Phase One and Two

The Electricity Authority published our final Opportunities and challenges to the future security and resilience of the New Zealand power system report alongside our draft 10-year roadmap of the actions needed to deliver on it in March 2022.

The final report followed consultation with industry on our draft report published in November 2021. We value the insights we received through that Phase One feedback process and encourage industry participants and other interested parties to engage in the Authority's Phase Two consultation on the draft roadmap.

As part of this Phase Two consultation, the Authority is holding two information sessions on 13 April. Sign up for the sessions and find out how to provide feedback on the Authority’s website.

Phase Three

Once consultation is complete, our focus in Phase Three will be to create a funded and resourced programme of work to deliver on the final roadmap.
